GIRLS' U15 CRICKET TEAM BECOME NATIONAL T20 CHAMPIONS
Repton School’s Girls’ U15 cricket team have reached new heights as they secure the National T20 Championship Title.
The team consistently produced strong performances throughout the competition, their efforts culminating in an 8-wicket win, chasing down Gresham’s score of 125 with 8.3 overs to spare. The girls bowled fantastically before the Captain and Vice-Captain put on a hundred partnership for the first wicket to nullify the opponent’s prospects. This result rounds off a fantastic season for the independent school team, who also ranked second place in the equivalent indoor competition.
The U15 side are led by Captain Olivia Kibler, who alongside being the team’s lead wicket taker and second-top run scorer, also plays for the Yorkshire U15 team, is a member of the U18 Northern Diamonds Emerging Player Programme and sits on the Girls’ Cricket Club 2023 Advisory Board, where she aims to make positive changes to girls’ cricket.
Vice-Captain and top run scorer Annie Williams also extends her cricket career beyond Repton, playing for the Nottinghamshire U15 team and U18 Blaze Academy team.
Notable performances from throughout the year include Annie Williams’ 126 not out vs Cheadle Hulme, Mim Aldred’s 62 not out vs Wilmslow High School and Olivia Kibler’s 64 not out vs Gresham’s in the cup final, however there is no denying that the team’s success is an absolute team effort, with every member playing an essential role.
Since its establishment in 2018, Repton’s Girls’ Cricket Programme has seen second place twice, reached six national finals and supported many young cricketers in their journey to county and regional performances.
