REPTON APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF SWIMMING FOR 2022

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ash Morris as Repton Swimming Club’s Director of Swimming.

Mr Morris will join Repton in November 2022 from Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai, where over the last 13 years he has been instrumental in its growth and success as the leading swimming club in the Middle East.

Mr Morris’s career has seen him coach more than 30 swimmers to international junior and senior team selection and achieve scholarships at leading universities all over the world. He began his coaching career in the UK before being appointed Head Coach and latterly Director of Swimming at Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai, which under his leadership was the only overseas team to win the Top Club medal table at the British Championships. During this time, he coached and mentored GB swimmer and Commonwealth medallist Lewis Burras for nine years.

Mr Morris’s appointment has been timed to continue the growth of Repton Swimming Club and establish a clear pathway from Learn2Swim through to international medallists.

Repton’s Headmaster Mr Mark Semmence is delighted to welcome Mr Morris to Repton Swimming Club, saying: “We have enjoyed considerable success since swimming became a focus sport at Repton in 2019 with swimmers achieving on the regional and national stage. We are confident that Ash’s considerable experience and credentials as one of the sports leading coaches will give pupils and club members the leadership necessary to build on our recent success. We look forward to seeing the Club go from strength-to-strength with Ash at the helm.”

Mr Morris comments: “Although I am very sad to be leaving Dubai, which has been home for 13 years, I am extremely excited to continue the great work that has been started at Repton Swimming Club. This is an exciting project and we want to help young people achieve both academic and swimming success at the very highest level.”

Mr Morris takes over from Mr Scott Talbot who is leaving Repton after two highly successful years for a world-class position leading the High-Performance Center in Vancouver. Mr Morris will join the Repton community with his wife and daughter.
