REPTON SCHOOL LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING DIGITAL PRIORY CLASSROOM
Repton School has proudly unveiled its latest innovation, the Digital Priory, a cutting-edge digital classroom that seamlessly integrates 21st-century technology into the school's historic setting.
Situated next to the original 12th-century priory at the heart of the campus, this new learning space offers pupils and teachers a global, immersive educational experience.
The Digital Priory is powered by OneRoom technology, a sophisticated platform designed to simulate the feeling of being in the same room, no matter the distance. The classroom features high-definition audio and visual equipment, multiple screens, and interactive software that enables real-time collaboration with pupils and staff across the Repton Family of Schools worldwide. From shared whiteboards to innovative tools that track engagement, this space is a model for hybrid and virtual learning in the modern age.
Ashley Currie, Principal Deputy Head, emphasised how this project enhances learning opportunities: “We wanted to create a space that honours our history while preparing our pupils for the future. The Digital Priory connects our global Repton community in ways we’ve never experienced before, allowing for cultural exchange, virtual language lessons, and cross-campus collaboration."
The Digital Priory is not only a testament to Repton’s forward-thinking approach to education but also a symbol of how technology can be used to enrich traditional learning environments, fostering a global culture of collaboration and professional development for both pupils and staff.
In 2021, Repton won the Education Business Award for outstanding Remote Learning provision during the Covid-19 pandemic and was shortlisted for the Business ICT Innovation award, recognising innovation in our approach to teaching technologies that further learning experiences in the digital world. With this most recent initiative, Repton continues to lead in educational technology, combining the best of its storied past with the limitless potential of the digital future.
