GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE IN NATIONAL MATHS COMPETITION
Repton Prep pupils have achieved outstanding success in the UK Mathematics Trust challenge.
The Junior Mathematics Challenge is a nation-wide competition that encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
At Repton Prep our main aim in teaching Mathematics is for all pupils to be encouraged to enjoy the subject and study it with confidence and a sense of achievement. Participation in competitions such as the UKMT challenge develops the ability to independently problem solve and consider maths-based problems beyond the curriculum.
We are delighted to celebrate numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners across the school. Repton Prep’s Head of Maths, Mr Davis congratulated the pupils who took part and said: “A special well done must go to Hana-Mae in Year 5 who is our youngest ever competitor and achieved a highly commendable Bronze Award and Fisayo in Year 8 who achieved a Gold Award and a place in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad. The Olympiad requires pupils to use mathematical ideas in an unfamiliar context or combine techniques in a novel way, so really is the ultimate test for gifted mathematicians."
We look forward to supporting and encouraging Fisayo in the next stages of the competition.
