LADY OF THE FLIES: REPTON PREP PUPIL WINS LITERACY TRUST COMPETITION
Hattie S has been named the individual winner of the Lord of the Flies competition, organised by The Literacy Trust in partnership with Faber, to mark the 70th anniversary of William Golding’s classic novel.
Hattie’s impressive spin-off, Lady of the Flies, captivated the judges with its creativity, depth, and exceptional artistry. The competition saw an overwhelming number of entries of a very high standard, but Hattie’s submission stood out. The judges shared glowing feedback, highlighting:
- Her impressive understanding of the original story.
- The contemporary relevance of her messaging, coupled with professional storytelling and stunning artwork.
- The incredible level of artistry, with beautiful drawings and intricate details, such as expressive facial features.
Hattie poured her heart into this project, dedicating her evenings, weekends, and half-term break to create the mini graphic novel. As the winner, Hattie will receive an exciting prize bundle from Faber, which includes a copy of The Lord of the Flies graphic novel, a £50 book token, a selection of young adult titles and a signed print.
This accomplishment not only showcases Hattie’s extraordinary talent but also reflects the creativity and determination that we value and nurture at Repton Prep. We look forward to seeing where her artistic and storytelling journey takes her next.
